WinMX Tools, LeecHammer to stop leeches

LeecHammer

Installing

LeecHammer (Click on Download from encoderX to download Leechammer from here )

Installation is basic. Until you get to this point (See Image) :

leechammerwizard

The above images shows setting the level you want to be ignored completely (Hammered) and what file shared requirements just get cleared.

The Image below is where to set how many files a user is allowed to queue up for.

After installation, the Rest of this Tutorial will focus on the Main Control.

Main Control Region

LeecHammer will open in small mode This is the default. I don't plan on getting involved with the other features/details.

If WinMX has not been started , you can start WinMX by pressing the MX Button. If it is already running, this will make it active, even if minimized. Upon Detection of WinMX running, transfers window will open, and Auto-check button is enabled by default.

leechhammer8

Check Queue Every ____ [Default: 30 Secs] [Range: 10-9000 Secs]

Determines how often your queue is checked for leeches. Auto-Check button turns into Stop button. Clicking the stop button will cause LeecHammer to stop blocking leeches.

leechhammer3

It will continue to monitor your queue, report active uploads and queued items. But no Leech Bashing. You can either start auto-check, or you can manually do a leech check by pressing the "Check Now" button. The check now button does a single, immediate queue check.

Recommended setting:

Small Files, with a small queue of less than 20 users Change it to 60 seconds. Everyone else, 180 Seconds or more. To do so more often just seems redundant. Personally I think the default of 30 seconds is a little overboard. If more than 2 or 3 people go through your queue in a minute you either have small virus shares, or a really great connection.

More Info button [Default: 30 Small]

LeecHammer's size toggle between a simple (small) layout and a detailed (large) option. The Large option allows access to activity logs and additional LeecHammer settings.

leechhammer4

Clicking the button again returns LeecHammer to small size.

The Mute setting

leechhammer9

Checking/unchecking this does exactly what it would imply. It toggles all sounds on or off.

Auto-check for Leeches [Default: enabled]

Activates automatic leech checking mode, it will continuously check your queue for leeches Until you click Stop (Button changes to a "Stop" button While auto-checking).

leechhammer5

Check Now

Immediate, one-time check for leeches. Only enabled if there is someone in your queue.

leechhammer7

If auto-checking is enabled, there will be a leech check and the automatic timer will reset itself to resume countdown.

On Occasion, WinMX takes keyboard focus from LeecHammer while performing a queue check. Bringing WinMX into focus (Press the MX button), then minimize WinMX. This should correct the problem.

The Status Bar

Indicates whether WinMX is running, it will wait for activation and/or WinMX to be started. The status bar also allows quick visual overview of your queue. Error Messages will also be display.

+Active Uploads : Number of files, currently being uploaded to other users.
+Queued : Number of files waiting to be started.
+Hammered : Total users hammered in session. Number of users hammered since using LeecHammer available (Check Stats Tab).
+Slots/Bandwidth indicator : Allows additional upload slots to be opened based on current bandwidth use. If enabled, the graphic on the example above will show.
