WinMX MxMonitor Blocking Leeches from Downloading using MxMonitor

MxMonitor, Configuration

Get MxMonitor here

Put the files you see below in a folder of it's own, Do not install in same directory as WinMX

MxMonitor Files

Run MXMoni.exe and click the button to browse to winmx.exe,

This will be by default C:\Program Files\WinMX

This only needs to be done once.

Start MxMonitor, if it isn't already.

If the system tray icon is grayed out, right click and select toggle monitoring, (A Yellow lightning bolt will be seen in icon if it is active).

Settings : General

Checking this will prevent your upload queue from becoming larger than the number you enter into dialogue box.

Settings : Ignore

The first option, ignore any user with multibyte characters is a bad idea. It ignores most asian users. Do Not check this box.

The Second one will ignore any user with a specific word (or tag) in their name. Useful if you want to block people with specific racial, social or otherwise absurd idea. Also useful for competing clans to ignore each other. NOT that I'm suggesting that.

Third one will ignore user by their reported connection types Since people inaccurately report their speeds all the time, i am not sure how much value this is to anyone, but that's what it does.

The last one is the one option in this section I use. Personally I hate it when one person floods my queue, and I am happy for MxMonitor to help me do so.

Settings : Whois

Make sure the Get User Information automatically is checked (Without it you are wasting your time). The Second option is whether you wish to automatically ignore everyone that times out, personally I don't.

MxMonitor Whois ScreenCap

The Ignore and clear by num of share files , is where you put the minimum and maximum number of files you expect a user to share to be able to download from you. If the box is not checked it will not work, regardless of what numbers you have entered.

Ignore and clear by transfer status allows a user to only uploads to those who not only share, but are actively uploading. You also have the option of sparing certain connections of the requirement.

Settings : Auto Upload

In the above example, two uploads can go(Limit to simultaneously uploading) at one time, but only 1 per user(per one user). If you want to take advantage of this feature you will need a higher number in the first box than the max number of upload slots in WinMX settings.

MxMonitor Auto Upload

The next 3 boxes give you the option of starting files with a certain Header in name, certain filetypes or to start files according to size. This would allow you to grant a slot to users waiting for smaller files, rather than being stuck behind people downloading larger files from you. Or files you have a particular interest in.

The Auto-UL to the users having the following strings allows you to give upload preference to a friend, or clan. all you need to do is add their name to the box and check it. (divide specific username with a semicolon ;)

Settings : Auto Upload - Auto Trading

auto-ul

Next comes the options for Auto Uploading for Trading purposes. To do so, check the Auto-UL for Trade box, and choose the settings you want.

If you want to allow people to Download if they start you, check the first box. If you want to start people queued on you also, then check the second one instead.

Then Choose whether you want to trade one file per person at a time, or unlimited equal amounts of files.

The next set of options allows you to set how long the other user has to start you before you disconnect them. There is also an option to ignore them if they dont start you in a timely manner. (Ignorant IMHO)

Next is the option to disconnect them from downloading from you if your download from them times out.

The last options in this section allows you to disconnect them if you are getting a really lousy speed, and also if they are dling like pond water from you.

Settings : Sound

You can assign sounds to activate on specific events.

Upload starting, stopping, completing. Download starting, stopping, completing, queueing and when you auto ignore someone. Check the dialogue box, click browse. Locate the wav file you wish to play for the designated triggers, and your set.

Settings : Log

This allows you to log activity. From Ignored User, Whois results, active uploads and downloads. Auto-Starts etc.

Transfer

Displays transfer information in realtime. The top is for downloads and the bottom is for uploads.
