WinMX Downloading for File Turns Red

When Downloading File Turns Red

If you think you could be having this problem due to the RIAA and MPAA flooding the network with fake files, check out p2p-revolution.com.

If your downloads just sit there like the one below this how you resolve it.

Click the + and it will expand to show you which users are currently available for queue from your transfer window.

If you see Purple ones, like the example above, just right click it and ...

Choose Enter Remote Queue, this will put you in that users Queue (line) for that file. Also, don't forget to set AFS and AEQ they can play an indispensable resource in getting the files you want.

If there are still real problems queueing, you could try changing your ports for tcp connections.

Changing the WinMX default ports for TCP and UDP

There is also the possibility that you ISP is blocking WINMX's default ports, to check this u will need to change your IN/OUT UDP port.

(16257 instead of 6257 for example). Remember if you try this solution these ports will have to mapped through Router (If you have one) just as the default ones were.

Go to settings,

settingsb

Internet Connection, Incoming tcp.

incoming-tcp

Change the number there from whatever it is now (default is 6699) to something new. This is usually something I change every time I have installed WinMX, not that I have always needed to, but I think its a good thing to diversify the ports, makes it harder for us to be collectively cheated.

Then IN/OUT UDP. Change value there also, truthfully this is the major one for uploads. If udp isn't working right, upload speeds will either be horrible, or not at all. It will also interfere with host a chat channel with WinMX.

inoutudp

Restart WinMX. Hopefully that should resolve the problem.

You should also visit dslreports.com and tweak your connection.

There are a few ISPs that are beginning to block all downloads as well as uploads.

The problem ISPs are SO far as follows: Cox, Optimum Online, Charter,NVI, Shaw, Rogers and Insight.
