WinMX Hosting a chat channel

Hosting a channel with WinMX

First you have to be set as a Broadband connection, no 56k.You also have to have a primary connection to WPN (WinMX Peer Network). You will also need a processor faster than 266Mhz, but WinMX does include a override button, do it at your own risk, hosting can chew up resources quick

On the WinMX Peer Network List Channel window, below the list channel button you will see a Host New Channel button. Click it and Enter the name you wish.

If you have an inability to Host.

If you have trouble going primary and are behind a router, Go Here (remote site)

Unable to host a channel after port forwarding? you may have a loopback problem,

There is a solution in the RCMS configuration file (If you are running RCMS)

Open RCMSConf.txt (in your WinMX folder if you are running RCMS) and look for what is in orange below.

[Loopback]YourAddress=Add your IP address here, not your routers address.

After adding your ip address to the location show, restart WinMX and try to host again. It is worthy to note that a domain name, or redirector such as no-ip.com can be used as a substitute for actual ip address. This can be valuable for users with a dynamic IP.

1. Simply set up a free account with NO-IP.

2. Add a host name to your no-ip account.

3. Get a free redirect client from here and run it on your computer at all times, this will automatically update the no-ip servers when your ip changes.
