What do I need to Use BitTorrent?

Unix/Linux Options

KTorrent is a BitTorrent program for KDE. I run it on Ubuntu with Gnome with no problems with the proper libraries installed. I find it is versatile and doesn't overwhelm my resources. By default you now get a downloads and uploads tab.

Deluge is a lightweight, Free Software, cross-platform BitTorrent client.

Ubuntu

If you are using Ubuntu or another derivative (Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Edubuntu) check the repositories for other options.

JAVA and others that run on Multiple Platforms

Snark 0.4 - In addition to being a BitTorrent client, Snark also includes an integrated .torrent file creator, micro-HTTPd server, and tracker. Users can share files with a single command, without installing a tracker, finding a web server or even posting the .torrent file. Compilation requires gcj 3.3 or higher.

Effusion 0.3 - Experimental Java client with IRC integration.

Azureus - Java client that includes a full-featured GUI with extensive visualizations/statistics about the transfer. You will need the 1.4 JRE installed to use this client. Obviously this client can be run on any platform that is java capable.

TorrentFlux - PHP based Torrent client that runs on a web server. Manage all of your Torrent downloads through a convenient web interface from anywhere. Runs on Linux and Windows.
