This does not mean that files you download cannot be infected with any sort of malware. All precautions taken when downloading files should be taken.

Regardless of their origin, it is ill advised to not take certain precautions to verify their legitimacy.

You might also want to consider some sort of virus protection if you do not currently have one. Kaspersky has a free 30 day trial available.

If you already have an Anti-Virus solution, you may want to check more frequently for updates, since obviously something got through.
