What to do if you get a You Need Vodei MP to play this movie warning upon opening a movie. Be warned the nag screen will be a constant issue. Luckily for you, there is a way around it.

Vodei 1.09 Multimedia Processor is what the site of origin calls it.

In reality it is little more than a bid to get people to pay for something thought a bit of deceit. Its more like a glorified password protected rar file.

To get around this foolishness, The instructions are simple.

Use A modified version of Vodei

It seems that after this page (one among many to counter the ignorance of such a ploy) was created. The Creator of the Vodei crap altered things a bit to make things more difficult. So here is a more simplified solution.

Get the Vodei Fix files here

Then you will need to install this slightly older version of Vodei installer than is available on their site. If anyone cares, they didnt bother noting the change anywhere on their site, it is strictly to allow them to continue to entrap people for their own financial gain.

After you install the "Codec" , you will then need to go to C:\Program Files\Vodei and replace the file named VodeiMPAVI.ax with the one in the file you downloaded in the vodei fix zip file.

The replacement file will be located in a folder named already nobbled. DO NOT put the subfolder in there also, if windows doesnt ask you if you wish to replace a file then it is not going into the right place.

Choose yes to overwite.

Congratulations, the file should now play.

If you want to reencode it without the Vodei garbage

You will need GraphEdit [Download]

Extracting the Video

Run Graphedit, then Choose Insert filter from the Menu.

Scroll down to DirectShow Filters, double click it. All of the filters listed in the video section will be foind in the DirectShow Filters heading.

Then Scroll to File Source (Async). Double click it, then browse to and open the avi file that you want to remove the vodei wrapper from.

Then browse to Vodei Multimedia Processor Splitter and double click it.

Then browse to AVI Mux, double click it also.

Next find File Writer double click save to an avi name of your choice.

Next you will need to connect the filters to each other. To do so simply click and hold at one of the outputs and go to the output of the next filter, and then let go. It will create the line for you like the example below.

When finished it should look something like this:

The order is what is important, As far as the literal places they are isnt, I just did it in 2 rows so it would fit easier on the screen for a screen capture.

Then press the play button

This will extract the video from the file.

Extracting the Audio

For audio, it is the same basic procedure, so I wont bore you with the repitition of the events.

If you do nto see any of the filters you need (such as dump) get them from here

AUDIO

DirectShow Filters

You will use the following:

File Source (Async)

Vodei Multimedia Processor Splitter

Dump ---> save to an audio file (mp3)

Instead of this dunp filter connecting in the same place the video file did, use the Audio output from the Vodei Multimedia Processor Splitter instead.

Click the play button and the extraction will begin.

Recombining the Audio and Video into a file not ruined with Vodei

Now remux the two files using VirtualDubMod in "Direct stream copy" mode.

The resulting avi will be smaller (hence uploading/downloading it will be quicker), and your avi player will load it faster too.

Try to avoid these types of files, due to the disreputable nature of this type of "scam", Most would rather not install his "codecs".
